FOLQ Weed Team Gets to Work
10/1/2024
The newly formed volunteer FOLQ Weed Team has been working to remove invasive plants like Purple Loosestrife, Bindweed, Bittersweet, and Multiflora Rose from the shores of Hall Park. Hall Park is located just north of Vet’s Field on the West Side of the Lake along the lower portion of North Ave. just north of its intersection with Church and Prospect Streets. You might also recognize this location as the home to the Wakefield Farmers’ Market from June to October.
This work helps make room for beneficial native plants like Joe Pye Weed, Goldenrods, and Asters. Native plants improve water quality, provide habitat and food for lake wildlife, and beautify our shorelines.
Thank you to our volunteers!
Interested in learning more or helping out? The only qualifications are an interest in helping to protect the lake and the ability to do activities like weeding, pulling, and cutting plants. Most of our volunteers are enthusiastic novices, and we all learn more every time we meet.
