DESCRIPTION:Bricks by the Lake is a program that raises funds for improvements in lakeside parklands through personal memorials on engraved bricks by the lakeshore. We host a ceremony to dedicate newly gifted bricks every two years. This year’s ceremony will be held on June 8th at 2:00 PM. All bricks purchases from March 2\, 2023 and March 1\, 2025 will be included in this year’s dedication ceremony. \nBricks Dedication Ceremony\nSunday\, June 8\, 2025 at 2:00 PM\nFlagpole Plaza at Col. Connelly Park\nWakefield\, MA \nCeremony\nThe brick dedication ceremony is held in appreciation of the brick donors and will include a reflection on the significance of the bricks and the inscriptions they bear. \nPlease note that seating will not be provided—guests are invited to bring a lawn chair for their comfort. \nWeather\nThe ceremony will take place if there is minor wind or rain. In the event of severe weather\, the ceremony will be held in Spring 2026. Notice will be posted on the FOLQ Instagram and Facebook pages and the homepage of the FOLQ website. \nBricks by the Lake\nImprovements in the parklands surrounding Lake Quannapowitt are made possible by the generosity and support of our brick donors.

Registration has closed. \nFOLQ is thrilled to partner with MassWildlife to host a “Learn to Fish” event for ages 5 and up.\nThis free\, family friendly fishing class at Lake Quannapowitt from 6:00 – 8:00 PM will occur before the beginning of that night’s Movie by the Lake\, which will be a showing of Toy Story 4. \nDetails\nJuly 11th\, 6:00 – 8:00pm\nLower Common\, Lake Quannapowitt\nPre-registration Required\nCost: Free! \nWhat to Expect\nHave you ever wanted to learn how to fish? Now’s your chance! Let the MassWildlife Angler Education Program be your guide. We’ll have equipment on hand for use\, as well as terminal tackle\, and live bait. You’ll learn the basics\, from casting out\, to baiting up\, and the best part – you’ll be able to fish. So come try your hand at this great pastime\, guaranteed to catch some fun! \nLocation\nSpaulding Playground area on the shoreline of Lake Quannapowitt. Spaulding Playground is off of Church Street in Wakefield. \nAll Ages Welcome\nThis is NOT exclusively a kid’s program. It is a program for people of all ages that want to learn how to fish. If your child is 15 or younger\, he/she must be accompanied by an adult. \nRegistration is full.
