FOLQ annual meeting

The grand ballroom of the Bear Hill Golf Club, 2 North St., Stoneham, will again serve as the venue for The Friends of Lake Quannapowitt annual meeting. Scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, members and guests can enjoy a cocktail while viewing the picturesque greens and fairways. A cash bar will be open beginning at 6 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner featuring baked stuffed chicken. The business portion of the annual meeting will commence at approximately 7:45 p.m. followed by an informative presentation. The natural and cultural history of Lake Quannapowitt from its glacial origins and use by Paleo-lndians to modern times will be presented by local authors and frequent FOLQ contributors, Alison Simcox and Doug Heath. They will use images and stories from their new book "Lake Quannapowitt" to trace the history up to present day. A book signing will follow. Tickets for the annual meting with dinner are $20 per person and can be purchased by mail. Members and guests may opt to attend only the business and presentation portion of the meeting free of charge but must indicate this option on the ticket order form.
